Commonly we see and hear conversations around conflict between culture and religion, but what is the 'Islamic' view on this?
A narration of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) comes to mind:
In his speech, the Messenger of Allah did not reject the good character within his culture, instead he (Peace Be Upon Said) 'I have come to perfect it'.
Sometimes, however, there have been cultural practices which are completely unacceptable, and Allah (God) spoke about it clearly:
A lot can be written on this topic, with many verses of the Qur'an, Hadiths (sayings) of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and events of history that can be studied and discussed, however to keep this post nice and short, Islam is not at odds with culture, in fact Islam allows for cultural norms and practices provided they do not conflict with the guidance given to us by God and his Messenger.
